Madam and Eve was conceived of as personal views and opinions, and came out of a desire to investigate, by examining a range of artworks of women by women, what kind of impact the feminist movement of the 1970s has had on the development of contemporary art. This seems especially relevant at a time when museums and galleries, curators and art historians are re-considering, re-positioning and revealing anew the presence of women artists in their collections after centuries of relegation.
